Rhys was infused with the world's first Anole Monster lizard. This gave him agility greatly influenced by the temperature of his body; in other words, keep his body very cold by some means and he'll be rendered nearly motionless. (not literally, but he'll go from being one of the quickest, most limber subjects to a stiff, sluggish person) And, in quite the opposite way, get him warm enough with hot water, warm blankets, the sun, or a heater, and he becomes very agile and quick. Lively, really.
Rhys also has a neurotoxin built up in his body. While the lizard itself need to inject the venom with a bite, his larger body enabled him to pass the venom on with just a touch. The venom is a neurotoxin that causes pain, fluid-retention-related swelling, partial paralysis, and a rapid drop in blood pressure. Technically, in high doses, his venom is lethal so the scientists have their own supply of it, but he doesn't have the experience to do more than cause pain and blood pressure drops.
Appearance »»
The most unique thing about the sixteen year old, however, is his brilliant pink eyes. He takes pride in them, though they're a bit out of place. But Rhys likes attention, as his attire proves. He can still be seen wearing a scientist uniform- namely, his father's. But primarily, he's seen wearing fairly nice clothes, usually with a jacket to keep him very warm. In fact, seeing him without a jacket is impossibly rare. He seems to have a preference for his puffy white ski jacket and his suede leather, black jacket with gray fur lining, coupled with black tight jeans.
Rhys may wish he was, but he's not the tallest by any means- he stands at five feet, nine inches. He's also not known to be visibly strong- no defined muscles stand out. His weight is one hundred and forty-four pounds.
It's the language that we speak
Likes »»
»» Anything that glows in the dark
(he likes the dark, but he's fascinated by the colorful glow against the darkness)
»» Singing
(it calms him down)
»» Being told to keep still
(his energetic nature makes it hard)
»» Music and the instruments that create it
(he wants to learn to play, so he gravitates toward instruments)
»» Being outside
(the outside symbolizes no restrictions for Rhys)
Dislikes »»
»» Stressful situations and tense people
(Relax, Rhys'll make sure everything's cool)
»» Tight clothes and starched clothes
(he'll claim they get too hot)
»» Rodents of any variety
(mother taught him they were dangerous)
»» Being alone
(Rhys always wants attention, being alone bothers him)
»» Being on a boat of any form
(he hates being stuck out in the water)
Goals »»
»» Become a scientist. Does anything else matter?
»» ... Well, fine, being famous would be a nice consolation prize. Especially a famous scientist.
»» No? Not that? Fine. He'll create his own organization for the brilliant scientific minds. Forget SRA haters.
Habits »»
»» Whenever he's emotional, be it nervous, scared, angry, sad, or any other 'negative' emotion, he'll sing quietly to himself to calm himself down.
»» Whenever he's in trouble, he'll get a playful look on his expression as if to ask, 'was it really that bad?'. Ever the charmer, he has a natural instinct toward how to react to familiar people to pacify them.
Phobias »»
»» Men in suits; face it, they're scary, they never smile
»» Being lifted off the ground; he can climb up high and not have a care in the world, but he's absolutely terrified when people lift him up, off the ground, if they're not protectively holding him close to themselves. Since he's no longer a kid, this no longer happens, but he'll get mad if you sling him over your shoulder or lift him by mechanical means.
Overall Personality »»
Rhys was always affectionately known as a daredevil by his mother. Even as a toddler, it was a cardinal title that followed him throughout his life. He was curious about everything and he was determined enough to accomplish anything. With no lull to his energetic nature, he was notorious for his ingenuity and his deviant tendencies. His confidence rivaled the scientist Rasmus' and his sense of pride in himself seemed unwarranted to most. At times he seemed uncommitted and unmotivated at his worse, and no amount of reality could lessen the presence of his ego, but he was generally well liked anyway.
Put simply, Rhys seemed a bit cold. He wanted nothing more than to be a scientist, so the disdainful attitude, the superiority that he can take on is merely a mask to hint toward his future profession. However, it's a lie to himself because the optimistic daredevil has a much warmer, caring side to contrast his ego. The infusion gave him personality traits, too, which weren't always good. For example, Rhys has an inhuman sense of territory. He demands respect, and he protects what he deems his. While he doesn't rely on the same means as a dog might, he's inclined to convey ownership by other means. In part, his territorial nature and his curiosity go hand in hand, leading to a third characteristic; alertness. He's very suspicious and alert toward changes in the surroundings of his 'possessions'.
Stress impacts him more than most. Stress, while troublesome for all, will leave him exhausted if it's prolonged. This is a primary factor in why he spends so much time being enthusiastic and optimistic. If he's not, he'd just as soon be asleep. However, it helped Rhys develop a very focused, very driven attitude toward stress management. He tackles his problems, addressing them and eliminating them swiftly when ignoring them won't work.

History »»
For countless decades people were astounded by the existence of venomous lizards. Only two existed- the bearded lizard and the Gila Monster, but the greatest downfall was it's slowed speed. Scientists would try the DNA on test subjects, only to find their sluggish pace made them obsolete in combat. Rasmus Deveaux, a fairly new but nondescript scientist working within the confines of SRA, wanted to solve this problem. In a job where the scientists were making ground breaking discoveries, he felt it necessary to stand out. So, with his research under wraps, he began to test on lizards, trying to merge the DNA with a Gila Monster. It took an innumerable amount of lizards of many different species before, finally, the Carolina Anole lizard fit the bill. It survived and even passed on the venomous gland to it's offspring. That was all Rasmus needed. Finally, he had an Anole Monster.
Among the scientists a minor experiment with a lizard was nothing compared to the experiments they were doing with humans and no one seemed reluctant to make that clear to Rasmus. Flustered, Rasmus kept the lizard as his pet and contented himself to go on with his other work, quietly studying and nurturing his new species on the side. Before he had his job at SRA, however, Rasmus fathered a child. Rasmus 'Rhys' Deveaux. Later, when Rhys was four, Rasmus took away the child's mother and preformed experiments on her as though she were nothing more than a subject to him. The experiment killed her. Rasmus, not wanting to make the connection between himself and the boy, insisted his name was Rhys instead of Rasmus or Junior. The name became more valid than his legal name, giving himself the identity as 'Rhys' rather than Rasmus.
Rhys life as the son of a woman who would be an eventual test subject was rocky at best. It wasn't hard to tell he was supposed to be ashamed of the mother he hardly remembered, but he had the confidence and pride to match the scientist that ashamedly admitted to being his father. In a world where ex's were little more than servants to their vampire masters, it didn't seem all that immoral to make an example of the child and to bring him up to torture those of the same merit as the woman that brought him into the world. In fact, if Rasmus didn't have the heart to kill the kid along with his mother or use him as an experiment, too, it was almost fitting that the boy go on and do something as useful as his father.
Rhys was let into the world of the scientists, known to be 'off limits' with the test subjects, and, most importantly, he was taken outside by Rasmus. He was a silent, but present observer in the experiment room, always kept safe by the guards or his father.
By six, Rhys was at the age when school became necessary. The scientist, feeling a good education was necessary, decided to teach him by himself. He employed the help of his colleagues, but he figured the little boy needed little more knowledge than what Rasmus himself knew of science. Fortunately, one year later the law caught up and Rhys was sent to a public school for a few hours a day. Rhys soon became a big name within the public school system; he was more daring with science, more passionate, than most little kids were. He was charismatic and enthusiastic, too, which made life a lot easier as he grew up. Unfortunately for Rhys, no matter how smart he was or how well he did, Rasmus hadn't forgotten his ultimate experiment. Given that he had no deep loyalty to his wife, Rhys should have expected it. He didn't. Rasmus wanted to validate himself- he needed to. So before Rhys took what he thought to be his rightful place as a scientist, Rasmus sealed his fate irrevocably as nothing more than a test subject.
When Rhys turned sixteen Rasmus injected his biological son with the DNA from the mixed lizard, the Anole Monster, a venomous ectothermic creature he felt he perfected. Rhys was officially deemed a test subject. But test subject or not, Rhys was confident he'd be a scientist one day, in spite of it.
