Will this agony ever end?
It wasn't as if anyone has chosen to be here... Or, have they?
It's been over two years since the day Shade and his younger sister had been brought to the Academy. He wasn't sure if she was alive or not, he just knew that he couldn't allow the thoughts to haunt him forever. If she survived the experiments, then surely she was misbehaving since he had yet to see her around once..
On the other hand, maybe she escaped? Maybe she escaped like he had tried to a long time ago? From then on, he began to act more trusting towards the staff at the Academy. It wasn't as if he liked the experiments or anything, but he was growing tolerant of them. Maybe if he was to show that he was good, they would let him go one day?
In either case, the pale young man had remained sitting where he was. Currently, he was alone on one of the wooden picnic tables. Surprisingly the cafeteria was serving sushi today, so he had been allowed to get some of that and a bottle of water. Both the sushi and the water were sitting at rest for the moment since Shade was occupying himself with matters besides eating. He managed to obtain paper and a pencil, so he was setting up some sheet music to attempt composing something new later on.
He was a pianist.. Sort of. Of course, being a test subject came first whether he had liked it or not, but if he could disregard the experiments and other properties, then he would definitely be a pianist. Perhaps one day, this dream would come true, and Shade could give music to this sad, dying world...

It was break time! Momo was pretty tired, and was wearing her training outfit still. She was in black head to toe, wearing a long sleeve shirt, with a pair of cargo pants. The shirt clung to her a bit and it was fairly obvious she was very petite. Another obvious thing was the she was short.... REALLY short. Five feet and on measly inch. It was a little bit sad that a seventeen year old could be so tiny. If it weren't for her womanly figure she could pass for a 14 year old. She walked in hugging herself in that way she usually did. She didn't say hello to anyone, and kept even her footsteps quiet. Momo was insanely shy, but she didn't like being alone either. Lately she had found enough courage to approach people and be friendly, in hopes of making a friend. This was only her second month here in the Scarlet Rose Academy... She barely knew anyone yet. It was a big place, with lots of faces. A few people she did know where the lunch ladies, who honestly frightened her a lot! The small female scurried over to the lunch line, getting a tray and loading it with carrots, apples, and a few other fruits and veggies. She could see that they had put the milk cartons just out of her reach again. She sighed, then looked up at the frightening lunch lady. She gulped and then started whispering, since she had a hard time raising her voice most of the time. She had to actually like someone to talk at a volume passable for talking. She opened her mouth and quiet whispers came out, "Excuse me? Uh... Could you please hand me a white milk? I can't reach..." She looked up at the lunch lady who now had a irritated look on her face. "Girl! how many times have I told you to speak up?! Don't you give me that mumbleage!" Momo cringed away, "I'm sorry!"" she then quickly walked over to the water bottles to get water instead since she was too scared to talk to the lunch lady again... She finally found herself with all her fruits and veggies and a bottle of water. She need a place to sit though. She looked around and saw a boy with white hair, just like her teacher/partner Axel! She somehow had started associating the color white with good since coming here. She walked over slowly, quietly. She stood in front of him, and quietly asked a question. "May I eat here, with you?" She felt bad for disturbing him since it seemed he was studying something or writing something since he had paper and pencil. She wore a weak, timid smile. Momo already came across as a skittish creature, like a rabbit. Especially since she seemed so fond of veggies... Especially her carrots... She was petite, short, and pretty. She had long chocolate colored hair. Her eyes were the exact same shade of dark brown. Her skin was pale, and she only looked paler covered in black clothing. Of course she looked a little pink in the face from all of her hard training with Axel, her partner/teacher. She was also a little pink from being shy and being not so sure about this. She would feel so embarrassed if he turned her away, then again it wasn't very polite of her to intrude upon him like this. She suddenly wanted to run away and find some empty corner to sit in by herself. It would probably be safer that way. Sheesh, she needed to stop being such a big scaredy-cat.

This time of day was beginning to feel quiet. It was lunch, and there were many others in the cafeteria, and yet, so many of them were barely speaking at all. It was nice. This allowed the pale young man to concentrate on what he was doing. He had barely started to draw up the sheet music when something had came to him, and he began writing it down. Ah yes, it would sound lovely, very lovely indeed.
Once he had at least managed to jot down his idea, he had allowed the peice of paper and pencil to rest for a couple moments; giving him the oppurtunity to pick up the chopsticks and eat a bite of sushi. It was good; and this kind of sushi was the vegetable kind. Perhaps he had never made sushi himself, but it was easy to see that the ingredients used were chopped carrots and cucumber, which were wrapped in seaweed and rice, sprinkled with... sesame seeds? Is that what those were? Hmm..
It definitely wasn't long until he had placed the chopsticks back down and directed his attention back towards the peice of paper. He stared at it, as if giving it some thought, and with those same thoughts, he flipped the pencil over in his left hand, with a single smooth motion, pointing the eraser down towards the page and erasing a single note he had written. It wouldn't sound right at all if he had kept it..
"Did someone just say something?" Looking up from the page, it was only to see that a small girl was standing not all too far from him. Oh? And, who was she? ...Surely, no one that Shade has ever met; that is, unless he had completely forgotten about her... Oh shoot, that would just be an embarassment...
He didn't hesitate with her question for very long, in fact, he was rather casual about it. "You can if you'd like to." He replied, inviting her to stay if she wanted, but showing that he would gladly dismiss her if she felt uncomfortable. The girl seemed shy... Really shy. Like some sort of a bunny rabbit. Of course, Shade wouldn't be someone to admit such a thing, but he did have a soft spot for cute little animals..

Momo was relieved he was so casual when he said she could sit with him. She wasn't sure if she was bothering him or not still. She set down her tray and held out her hand, it shaked a little bit. She couldn't exactly hide the fact that she was shaking from being nervous/scared. She needed to work on her people skills and here she was doing her best. She accompanied her handshake opening with, "Hello. My name is Momo Sato." She smiled shyly, her face was a bit pink, and even the slightest hint of pink on her face seemed like a full out blush since her skin was so pale and it seemed like the only color on her besides the chocolate-y color of her eyes and hair. Momo hoped her strange habits wouldn't bother him. She was extremely shy, and she for some reason felt like it was rude of her to eat in front of others. No one had ever told her that eating was rude, but she just didn't want people to see her eating. Even if she kept her mouth shut and used her best manners she felt like she was being rude. She always kept one hand in front of her mouth as if a wall were blocking people from seeing the lower half of her face while she chewed. Despite keeping her hand up for the entire rule she was very careful to not let her elbows touch the table. It seemed she was very careful with her own behaviors. thinking of the circumstances she was living in before she moved out of her adoptive families house it was understandable. It didn't seem like very long ago at all. Momo had moved out of her so called parent's house, and found a steady job and an apartment. She worked as a waitress, somehow, it didn't seem likely that this shy girl would be able to walk up to strangers all day and ask them questions but she had for a few months. Then one night she was alone in the park and the Turics, and her soon to be partner/teacher Axel snatched her up and brought her here. It didn't seem like that way of coming here would make her very loyal. She had her reasons for being loyal. They were etched so deeply into everything she believed now that it seemed they had brainwashed her. Well technically they had brainwashed her but that was a story for later.

Thank goodness. Shade could tell from the girl's shy behavior and introduction that he hadn't met her before. That brought so much relief to his worries, a situation like this had happened before, but he had forgotten all about the person, and it was just... Needless to say, it was very awkward.
After only moments it seemed that the girl had brought her hand up towards him and invited him for a handshake. It was a sign of formality, yes, but it was something Shade simply never understood. What was the point in linking, then shaking one another's hands? Was there something inside everyone's hand, that allowed the other to read their memories if they made contact to it? Probably not.. Well, hopefully not. With that being established, Shade had brought up his own hand, but instead of shaking the girl's, he had swiftly ran his fingers from the area just above her wrist, to her own finger tips before setting his hand back down. Maybe it wasn't a hand shake, but she should surely understand it was meant as the same thing.. Maybe... Only time could tell, because that wasn't common, nor was it obvious...
As she explained that her name was Momo Seto, Shade couldn't help but to notice her blush. "How cute." He thought towards himself. He returned her shy smile with a casual one that could be seen as a friendly greeting; despite the fact that he was feeling a little shy too. It wasn't often that he was overcome by his shyness, but a lot of times he could feel it scraping away at him.. "It's nice to meet you." He continued. "My name is Shade Brooks."
Out of the millions of lovely names out there, why did his parent's choose 'Shade'? It was like a shadow; except.. Not exactly. It definitely wasn't a common name, and he had hoped that Momo wouldn't question it.. Speaking of Momo, she seemed like a nice girl. Perhaps she was making a rather shy impression, but it was somewhat amusing, and very cute.
It wasn't long before Shade picked up the pencil again and wrote one last thing down. He just had to get it on to paper before he would forget. And this would have given Momo and oppurtunity to start on her food anyways, so he was hoping she didn't think he was trying to be rude. Those short seconds passed by quickly. He put the pencil back down, but left his left arm to rest partially on the table. Neither of his elbows were touching, in fact, his left was resting on the table by the peice of paper, starting from about his forearm. His right, was resting idle by his side with his hand resting upon one of his legs. Speaking of his legs, they were crossed from underneath the table, the left resting normally, and the right crossing over.
He would have made sure that it looked like Momo was done eating anything she had in her mouth before he would begin speaking to her again. There was really nothing worse then having someone start a conversation with you when you have food in your mouth; you have the desire to reply, but, perhaps the number one table manner, and common courtesy is to avoid speaking when there's food in your mouth. "I don't believe I've seen you around here before..." He continued, sounding rather curious about this. "How long ago were you... 'inducted' into the Academy?" Perhaps 'inducted' wasn't the right word, but he wasn't sure if she was here by choice, or if she was taken, so it was the best way he could think of wording it on the spot.

The female observed that he seemed pretty polite. She was a little relieved. She was never really sure how to respond to negative things. Recently, she had been exposed to much more negativity. Her partner Axel, he wasn't the brightest person to be around. He was pessimistic, and sarcastic, and had a bad temper... Momo was always trying her best for him. She didn't like being yelled at after all. Well actually maybe yelling would be better then all the whispers she always heard in her head. No, she would rather those voices stayed as quiet as usual. It would be hard to block out if they got any louder. Although it seemed they were always at a dull roar, the multitude of whispers really added up. She wasn't sure what to make of his hand shake. It seemed a bit strange to her, but she just accepted it. The girl had an understanding of all the differences in people's behaviors and cultures. It was just a different way to do it, she pulled her hand back to herself, and then picked up a carrot. She started eating her carrot while the male wrote something down. Momo maintained her usual habits of eating. As she finished swallowing her asked her a question. After stating that he hadn't seen her around much. She nodded, since she had gotten here she hadn't met very many people. Yet, it seemed like so much had already happened recently. She was glad that she was different now, physically, otherwise she probably wouldn't have lived this young. She wondered for a moment if everyone got this much action in their first few months? She answered him after just a short moment. "I've been here just a little over two months. I haven't really been meeting very many people yet. I've been in the infirmary a lot, and my squad trains a lot..." Momo spoke softly, something just over a loud whisper and not yet normal talking volume. She sort of mellowed out the part about the infirmary. She had almost died her twice, and it hadn't been just a scrape she was in either. Already she had been in two pretty major battles. Two breakouts she had been involved in, no not in trying to escape, but in trying to stop them. She had been shot several times, and had just recently gotten out of a cast... Momo didn't want to leave Shade to do the majority of the work to keep the conversation going. So she managed to raise her voice just a little and ask him a question. "How long have you been here?" She was a little bit curious was all. Plus she assumed it was a safe question since usually people didn't ask questions they didn't feel comfortable answering themselves. Well unless they had a hot temper, or were just a bit nosy. Shade didn't come across as that type of person.

It wasn't even a short moment later when Momo had replied to him, explaining that she has been here for a little over two months now. Ah yes, so she was fairly new after all. It wasn't as if he would mean to insult her at all with these thoughts, but she did seem to be fairly new. Perhaps it was the vibe she was giving off? Or was it simply because she was still coming off as fairly shy towards him? Wait, did this mean he was scary?
Whichever the case may be, it probably didn't matter. Actually it did, but he probably didn't come across as scary, especially since Momo was staying where she had been this whole time. Of course, his attention didn't stay on that topic for long at all before he heard Momo explain that she hasn't really been meeting too many people, and that she had been training, and stuck in the infirmary a lot. "That sounds like fun." There was a shallow hint of sarcasm in his voice; although it wasn't blunt, it was definitely still there.
The male actually wasn't all too surprised when he heard about how Momo had been stuck in the infirmary. Yet, wasn't everyone in their first few months? Especially with all the tests, fusions, and whatever other experiments they did in there; he wasn't sure since he had only experienced so many different kinds personally. Speaking of which, he was actually expecting another test, or surgery.. Experiment... Well, he wasn't sure what they were going to do to him, but he just knew that his next one was tomorrow. So, for all he knew, this was his last day in this life... That wouldn't be a shame.
Shade was actually accepting the fact that he may possibly be killed this time. Obviously he had never died, but he had been close to it a couple of times while he was here. The scientists were probably expecting the same thing this time as well; death. Which was more then likely why Shade was excused from his training for today; so that he could spend the day doing as he liked. Even if it wasn't his possible last day alive, it was appropriate to take this day off so as to not risk any strain or injury before any type of experimentation.
How long as he been here? It didn't take much thought before he had casually replied. "Just under two years." Has it really been that long? A lot of days it really didn't feel like it, and yet... On some days it felt like an eternity. How were his parents? Where was his little sister? Was she still alive in the academy somewhere? Did she escape? Was she alone? Did she die? Was she killed?
Did it hurt?
So many questions, yet there were no answers to any of them. Oh well.. Whether he liked it or not, he would just have to keep waiting to find these answers, since obviously, if he had tried to find them on his own, that would mean he would need to escape the academy.. Perhaps it would work if he came up with a thorough enough plan, but who was to say that he wouldn't just get caught again?

Momo had her ears trained by now to pick up sarcasm easily. She knew it well, especially when she had a partner like Axel... It seemed like she was always thinking about him. It couldn't be helped, he had been her center of the universe for her entire stay here at the Scarlet Rose so far. He was the reason she was here, he was the reason she was so committed to her new mission, he gave her a reason to live here that made her much happier then she would have been on the outside, and he trained her. They had been through a lot together, it was quite amazing. There was a bond between those two that was extremely strong though it had just recently been forged. In her partner Axel's case, sarcasm seemed to be his only humor. Momo had grown tuned to such things and she picked up the strand of sarcasm in Shade's words. She smiled, finding it a bit amusing herself. The girl nodded her head and glanced around, and snatched up another carrot which she ate with her usual mannerisms while listening to his reply. Two years. Wow that was quite amazing, and yet again her thoughts went straight to Axel. She swallowed and then with a bright smile replied, "My squad captain has been here just over two years. I wonder if you've met each other?" FINALLY! The girl spoke at an acceptable volume for talking to someone across the table. Momo realized she had finally broke that sound barrier she subconsciously had, and always consciously struggled with. She felt pretty happy about that, but she also felt a little embarrassed as if she had just yelled hurray just because she did such a simple thing. Again she turned pink, which seemed to happen a lot, but people who knew her got used to it. Then, speak of the devil... Axel had just finished cleaning up a bit after training. He wore black jeans, and a long sleeved black shirt with the design of some simple white lines on it. He had white hair, that was a bit long for a male, and was also a bit messy. He walked in without saying a word to anyone, his eyes never strayed from his objective. Even the way he walked was almost imperceptible, noise-wise anyway. He was a tall male, over six feet tall. he seemed a bit brute-ish, although he was quite handsome. His objective at the moment was to get some grub, then he could attend to the small things like where to sit. By himself, or with his squad-mates was pretty much always the two options for where to sit so there wasn't much thinking to be done on that. As soon as Axel observed that they had sushi, and a few other Asian foods he was loading his tray with them. One thing he liked about this cafeteria was that there was no paying for the food or waiting in obnoxiously long lines. He quickly had himself a meal, and a bottle of water. He scanned the cafeteria for an empty table, or someone from his team, whichever came first. He spotted Momo sitting next to some guy... It didn't really please Axel. He would never admit to the reason why he disliked her being alone with other males, but with anyone with a speck of intuition it might be obvious. Momo was just finishing wondering aloud if shade and Axel had ever met when she spotted Axel approaching. The hint of joy flashed through her eyes as he came over and set his tray next to hers. Axel looked down at the other male, "you don't mind do you?" Asked Axel, who didn't wait for an answer before sitting down next to his partner. He glanced at her plate and saw that she had gotten only fruit and veggies. He gave her an almost lecture-like look and spoke. "Are you turning into a vegetarian or something?" he asked, his face unamused. Momo turned bright pink and shook her head vigorously. "No... I just..." Axel sighed he already knew that Momo just still didn't have the guts to talk to the bitch-y lunch ladies. Momo considered Axel her best friend, but to outsiders it probably seemed like Axel was just always picking on her. Really Momo had the understanding that Axel wasn't really a people person, and had a hard time expressing things in a positive way. Axel knew he was an a**, but didn't really care. He never really thought to hard about the things he said, but Momo seemed to interpret everything in a positive way somehow. Like his most recent comment, or actually question, Momo interpreted that as a concern that she wasn't getting enough protein because she wasn't getting enough meat. If Axel thought about it, sure maybe he had meant something among those lines, but there was no way he was going to say something like "I'm concerned your not getting enough protein because of your diets lack of meat."Momo decided to quickly change the subject before Axel publicly worried about her anymore. "Shade, this is Axel, my squad captain." She introduced Axel, since she had already learned that Axel wasn't really fond of making friends and probably would have just sat there without talking much to Shade at all if she hadn't. Axel did a little one hand wave, and then reached over and stole one of Momo's carrots. Momo looked at him with annoyance written all over her face but Axel simply smirked and popped it in his mouth...

Surprisingly enough, Shade actually didn't mind Momo's eating habits. Well, actually, he didn't really care. They seemed to be her own habits, so she had the right to continue them if she so pleased. Just the same as he would expect from anyone else who could see one of his habits. The one that he noted the most was that he clicked a pen three times before using, but only once while he was putting it away. Why did he do this? Was it a nervous twitch? Not exactly. He started it when he was younger, and it just seemed to carry on from there... He did other strange things like that as well, but those were stories for other times.
Taking a bite of sushi, he had silently eaten it while Momo finished off... Whatever she had just been eating; before she started talking. And this time it wasn't a whisper. This time he didn't have to pay super close attention just to make out what she was saying Oh, no; this time he could hear her loud and clear. She wasn't shouting, but it was at least audiable from across the table. It startled him a little bit how she had changed her volume so suddenly, but he had appreciated it quite a bit since it was just so much easier to make conversation with.
"Hm? Her squad captain has been here for just over two years? ..How intriguing." He thought towards himself. Of course he wasn't planning anything bad; he was just curious about it. Who was her squad captain? Had they met? As Momo actually mentioned that they could have met one another, Shade nodded his head ever so slightly. "It's possible.." He continued, figuring that he may as well ask who her squad captain was... Although, for the most part, Shade wasn't one to get close to the captains, so it was highly unlikely.. "What's your squad captain's name?"
Speak of the devil and he is sure to appear. It seemed almost as soon as Shade had asked about Momo's squad captain, there was another male standing beside her, putting his tray down, asking if he had minded if he joined them. Shade shook his head slightly; the more the merrier, right? ...No, not always correct. He didn't like feeling crowded, especially by those he had yet to really get to know..
Yet, he couldn't help but to wonder about the other. Who was he? And why in the world was he so tall?? The guy looked to be over six feet; it actually began to make Shade feel kind of short.. Poor Momo, was this how she normally felt?
He was quiet as he watched the exchange taking place between Momo and the other. He didn't seem all too friendly towards her, but it appeared as if Momo knew him, so if she really needed any help defending herself then she could just ask; otherwise, Shade would have to assume she had any of her own situations under control.
The subject was quickly changed on Momo's terms as she had introduced the man sitting beside her as Axel, her squad captain. "Oh? So, this is her squad captain?" he thought towards himself, finding it odd how casual Axel seemed about the whole thing. It was one thing to be another's captain, yet it was a whole other to be stealing carrot's from another's plate... Was there more here then just a captain-to-..umm.. student?? ..Student relationship? How amusing..
It didn't take long for Shade to acknowledge the other by giving him a small wave. He had used his left hand, the one that had been just resting on the table, while his right stayed on his leg. "..I can't say that I have met him before." He said, replying to what himself and Momo had been speaking about not long before Axel had actually shown up.
Glancing down towards the peice of paper he had written on, Shade figured that he wouldn't get to work on it much with company around him, so he had brought up both hands and began folding the page in half a couple of times before he would slip it inside his pant pocket. The pencil would stay on the table for the time being since Shde didn't find it important to put away right now.
It was a little confusing to Shade how it seemed Axel also had pale skin and white hair like himself... He wasn't part of the same group, was he? ..No, if he was, then Momo would have to be as well, and although she is pale, her hair and eye color are off. Which obviously meant that neither of them were Group D, fused with Tremons... But then, what were they?
Curiousity killed the cat! Shade completely ignored this quote and decided that there was no harm in asking. Besides, there were chances that he would die tomorrow anyways, so he may as well say what he felt like for the time being; so long as he continued to use it in a certain accordance. "..I hope you don't mind me asking.." He trailed off for only a moment before he would continue. "but, which group do the both of you belong to?"

Axel glanced up across the table as he heard the other male speak. He was fine with most questions, and was sometimes brutally honest with his answers. Axel didn't care much about other people's feelings, not anymore anyways. He had changed a lot since he came here, and even Momo didn't know his whole story yet... Axel answered for the both of them. "We're both in group V." He said, and then picked up a piece of sushi with his bare hands and popped it into his mouth. Axel could be a gentleman, but he didn't really seem like he was expressing his manners at the moment. Well actually that was one thing that had definitely changed about him since coming here, he wasn't quite so polite. It wasn't like he was chewing with his mouth open or anything though. Some people just found it a bit rude to pop food into their mouth like he just had. Momo nodded in agreement with what Axel had stated. she smiled and added on though, "I was lucky and didn't get the side affect of thirsting for blood." As soon as she said this she glanced at her captain and a hint of sadness flashed through her eyes. Axel didn't say a word, he hated admitting that he was one of the less fortunate souls who did get that monstrous craving. That was partly why he had such a negative attitude. He hated himself for what he was, every time he was near people it was like he saw them as food, and not people. For some reason, he had always found that Momo smelled more delicious than most others. It was sometimes almost painful to be around her but he was never going to admit that. He was quite the so-called tough guy. Again Momo assumed that no one asked a question that they wouldn't feel comfortable answering themselves. So she tried her best to keep the conversation going as best she could. "May I ask what group you belong to?" She had a quavering smile hoping she wasn't treading on unstable territories. She had only assumed it was an appropriate question after all. Momo picked up another carrot and quickly finished that off in her usual ways. Axel was already making sure that his meal disappeared quickly. The duo seemed mix-matched. Momo was extremely short, and Axel was extremely tall. Momo was small, cute, friendly, and warm in a way. Axel was cold, private, and would probably beat you up if you called him cute. They were opposites, and from an outside view they didn't seem like the kind of opposites that could ever coincide. They had a certain understanding though, and between the two of them they knew exactly where they stood. Now, where the other wanted them to stand was something neither of them were sure about... Momo had noticed the paper he had earlier. She felt a lot more comfortable now, so she went ahead and asked him a question. "May I ask what is on that paper, if it's not too personal?" asked the girl. Axel finally noticed the paper as his eyes went out in search of whatever it was Momo was talking about. He quickly found it and took note of it. He glanced up at The other male, waiting for an answer so he might be able to put a label on this stranger. If it was some sort of homework, he could be labeled the smart type. If it was poetry, song lyrics, a drawing or anything of that sort he would be the artistic type. If it was something to read, then this guy was probably a book worm. That's how Axel was, he liked to identify the other entities surrounding him, whether or not they were friends or enemies. The female on the other hand was just curious. she wasn't really the type to automatically put labels on people. If she did have to categorize people it would always be something like, really nice, nice, adorable, not so nice, rude, and scary. Those were pretty much all her reactions to most things. That was just the way Momo worked, she was a nice girl, and understood that people were individuals. they were each so different from each other they could never really be thrown into categories correctly unless the category was meant just for that one individual. Again it seemed the two on the other side of the table had pretty different mind sets.

Shade looked towards the other male, Axel, when he had began to explain which group they were from. Perhaps it wasn't the best to have assumed that both Momo and Axel were in the same group, but it seemed fairly obvious that they likely were; afterall, they were a part of the same squad. It was interesting to hear that they were both from Group V, but that was likely because Shade didn't normally speak with those a part of that group.
It wasn't as if he had anything against them; he just didn't get the oppurtunity to meet many of them. They all seemed so busy; or, so well behaved. Perhaps many would go up stairs to watch movies, but for the most part it just seemed as if those in the V group were avoiding him. It'd be wrong to assume that they actually were, but many were found everywhere that Shade normally wasn't; which caused him to feel rather intrigued when Axel mentioned that himself and Momo were from that particular group.
He ignored Axel when he popped the sushi into his mouth. Actually, not quite. Although, Shade didn't find it rude at all. Table manners shouldn't be something thats super strict; besides, he had no idea this had anything to do with manners. Shade had actually just assumed that Axel was simply incapable of using chopsticks. It took a bit of practice, so it was understandable why Shade would dismiss something so easily, as if it never happened at all.
Speaking of chopsticks, Shade picked up his own, and had a bite of his own sushi as he listened to Momo mention that she had been lucky enough not to get the side effect of thirsting for blood. Shade finished eating, but he froze for a few moments afterwards. She... What?!? Alright, so she didn't gain that side effect, which was a good thing... But, what about her friend, Axel? Shade hesitantly glanced over towards him, but he didn't seem to say anything on the topic.
Taking only a few moments to recompose himself; it didn't actually take him too long to reply. "Well, that's good to hear." He said, referring to how Momo had not gained that side effect. And yet her squad captain still said nothing about it... Did that mean he was one of the unlucky ones? Or, was Shade just jumping to conclusions? He probably was, so he had allowed himself to try lowering his guard again since.. Well, there was no reason to get stressed out about something that may not even be true...
As he heard his own question repeated from Momo, he had assumed she was going by the saying that someone wouldn't ask others something that they wouldn't mind being asked themselves. And she was right to go by that assumption since Shade didn't care if someone was to know which group he was from or not. Did it really matter? He knew that some people liked to keep it a secret, but if they were all going to end up working together one day, they may as well know about eachother. Perhaps he would avoid telling them that he was a half failed experiment; so for now he would give them the simple answer.
"I'm from Group D." His reply was casual; Ah yes, Group D. Fused with an Ice Tremon to be exact. He hadn't been able to meet too many who had been tested with the same experiment; did that mean that they all died? Or was he simply in the wrong places, at the wrong times?
In either case, it wasn't too much longer before Momo had continued to ask about the peice of paper he had just put away. He had supposed that it wouldn't exactly kill him to let them know what he was doing.. "I play an instrument, so I was writing a composition." He said, giving a breif explanation as to what the paper had been all about. Perhaps it wasn't near finished, and maybe it would never be finished, but he felt it was important that he wrote at least a few things down..
He would have no idea that Axel was trying to find a label to put onto him, but even so, it may not work quite so well in this situation. The composition was somewhat like a homework that Shade had assigned to himself; labelling him as the smart type. However, Music is an art form, to make the sounds all flow together, would label him as an artistic type. Also, the very fact that a person must read sheet music.. Well, that would also label Shade as a Bookworm; so it was possible that putting a label upon him wouldn't be quite as easy as the others; but it really depended upon what was assumed.
Shade wasn't one to put labels upon people unless he found it necessary; in this case, he didn't. But now he was curious as to what sorts of things these people did to pass the time.. Well, besides training, and visiting the infirmary.. "Do either of you have any interests outside the typical?" He asked, wondering if they did things that others typically wouldn't, shouldn't, or couldn't.

Axel soon found himself across the table with a musician. Actually he was now sitting with too musical spirits. Momo played the guitar, he knew that at least. Momo also sang, but she was so shy she hadn't even thought of bursting out in song here in this sad place. Axel took note that this person was an artist, but the fact that he could read sheet music said something interesting. He had to be at least a little intellectual to do that, it wasn't all that easy. Axel himself had been an extremely good student. Before he ended up here he was on the highway to an even greater education, literally. There was an accident, and that was that. From the usual hospital to the intensive care here in the Scarlet Rose. He owed his life to the doctors and blood donor of this place. It was common knowledge among almost all the group V members that there was one blood donor for this place. Momo's face had a huge grin plastered on it suddenly. "Wow! That's really cool. I play guitar, and sing too." she was talking at an acceptable volume, and her words were filled with the chime of pure joy. Axel was actually surprised, it didn't really show. He just looked at her curiously, "since when do you sing?" he asked, a bored look on his face still. Momo's eyes widened a bit in surprise that he didn't know, but then realized she hadn't mentioned it and turned pink. "I'm sorry, I guess I forgot to mention that..." She said a little bit quieter. She glanced away, picked up another carrot and ate it in the usual way. Axel shrugged it off, it wasn't really something she needed to apologize for. he took another quick bite of sushi finishing it before the next question was even finished, Axel answered first, giving Momo a little bit of time to compose herself. "I've been told the amount of time I spend with the King isn't quite typical. Have you paid a visit to the King before?" Started Axel. Momo waited until after shade responded to Axel, whether it be a no comment, or a lengthy explanation. Then she answered his question as well. "Well, Axel keeps me pretty busy but we both spend a lot of time with the king, I like to visit the area where they keep the animals too though." Axel and Momo weren't the only ones in their squad. The third member of their squad, Kenshin, actually lived in the same area as the animals. It was a bit strange at first, but Momo was used to it. Axel simply tolerated it. With Axel most things were tolerated, but not truly accepted. he was a bit of a stick in the mud, Momo was much more flexible. She had already quickly adjusted to this place, and was already making friends. It was a nice thing that she was being able to do the things Axel was just starting to do after 2 years. Axel never really saw much of a need for friends though. When Axel arrived he was as good as dead. When he recovered... he wasn't the same man. Axel knew he could never go back to who he was before everything changed. He was a blood thirsty monster, he tolerated his own existence, he didn't accept it though. Why did a blood thirsty monster deserve to have friends? What was the use in that? He chose to spend his time committing himself to others, training for the war, preparing Momo for the dangers she word face, pleasing the King, following the orders handed to him by both Dr.Connel and Miss.Cabbot. he hadn't had very much time for fun between training, sleeping, and missions. With more and more Test subjects coming in the doors though, it wasn't as critical for him to do missions as it once was. He was less and less busy, and spending more and more time with others, he never asked for it but he somehow ended up with these companions called friends.Momo had noticed that Axel seemed to be in thought. She knew that look, he had been getting it more and more often. Getting lost in his darker thoughts. She hated it, which was really something. It was sort of hard to get the sweet girl to hate anything. She didn't hate anyone here at the Scarlet Rose yet. Although Axel seemed to think she should have some sort of grudge against Dr.Connel. The scientist around here had supposedly brainwashed her. She didn't believe Axel on that one. Momo was so badly brainwashed she couldn't even see how her logic was warped. How was she supposed to see that though? Her reality had been warped even before she came to this place. It hadn't made anything worse. In fact it had made things easier. If she had a reason in her mind that made her willing to die for all this, wouldn't that be easier then being forced to stay here and die for a cause she didn't believe in? So it seemed that the both of them were going to stay here, somewhat happily. Momo had a bit of worry on her face. She picked up one of her carrots, and offered it to him. he glanced at it, and took it gratefully. "Thanks." He said with a smirk on his face. Momo looked at Shade, "Do you like vegetables?" She asked innocently. It was pretty obvious that she did, since she was eating like a vegetarian. That thought brought a little bit of pink to her cheeks as she glanced at Axel. She already knew that Axel called vegetarians, "rabbits, cows, and whitetail." He had warned her not to turn into a rabbit more then once, but hadn't teased her yet today, thankfully...

It was nice to see Momo's face light up in such a way as she went on to speak, saying that she played the guitar and sang as well. Oh, how fun~ The pale young man watched the exchange between Momo and Axel as they had spoken about her singing. Shade couldn't help but to wonder how that would sound. The girl, Momo, seemed to have a nice voice, but she didn't speak up all too loudly. Was her singing just as quiet? If so, did she have to use a microphone to amplify the sound a bit, at least to a more audible level? In either case, Shade would go on to speak up after the both of them were done. "How long have you been playing the guitar? Have you done any performances?" Perhaps he didn't know who Momo was, at least, not exactly; but just because you've performed doesn't mean that you're automatically going to be famous, so, now he was just curious as to if she had done anything along those lines. He wouldn't be too surprised if she hadn't because she came off as pretty shy, but once that spotlight was in your eyes, it's not as if you can see the crowd before yourself anyways..
Of course Shade knew exactly what Axel was talking about when he mentioned that he spent a bit more time with the King than the average person would. Too bad that was a flat out lie. It actually took Shade a moment or two before "The King" processed correctly in his mind. "Ohh, right; that guy.." he thought towards himself. Didn't he reside down in level one? Ah yes, that simply had to be it, where else would they put someone like that? As Axel went on to ask if Shade had paid a visit to the King as of yet, he had replied. "To be honest, I've only been down there a couple times." He said, admitting that he didn't normally go beyond level two. "..But I did meet him breifly quite some time ago." He said, recalling that the visit was extremely short; yet at the very least, Shade had thanked him since he was probably the only thing that had kept him alive for this long... Perhaps that was pathetic upon Shade's part, but could he really help it if the scientists mutilated him just a little too much during the experimentations?
He listened to Momo's reply as well, and it seemed apparent that the both of them spent quite a bit of time down there in level one. "Have you been down there today already?" He asked, thinking that if they hadn't been down there yet, he may as well tag along if he was welcome to. It wasn't as if he had anything better to do. If this truly was his last day alive, then he may as well give the King, and the other demons down there his respect for keeping him alive this long... But, besides that, he felt that leaving this world wouldn't be so bad. It wasn't as if he was currently feeling suicidal; he was just preparing himself for just in case he did die, that way, perhaps he could leave without any sorts of regrets that could keep him trapped here for eternity... Yes, Shade believed in ghosts, he wasn't extremely paranoid by them; he just simply wished not to become one should anything happen.
Do you like vegetables? Wait, what? That was a little 'out of the blue' for Momo to ask him such a thing, but he had casually replied. "Yes, I do." He was wondering why she would ask something so random, but perhaps she was just tryingto make some more conversation. He shrugged slightly and had a bite of his sushi, giving Momo and Axel time to eat their carrots, as he would go on to speak once he was finished. "..Are you a vegetarian?'" He asked, as he had noted what Axel said towards her when he had first gotten here. Shade didn't really see the problem with being a vegetarian; so long as she ate alternative things to replace proteins and iron that were found in meats, then there would be no problem with it. Yet, Shade didn't realize that she was just afraid of the lunch ladies; in fact, he had trouble being afraid of them since he shared a.... 'specia'l bond; with the majority of them..

Momo grinned shyly when asked about her performances. She remembered back when she started really liking music again. She ah loved it when she was born, but when her parents died in the accident to go to a concert, she had a hard time listening to music on her own for a bit. By the time she turned thirteen she need music, because it was the only thing besides her adoptive parent's scolding that could drown out the whisperings in her head. "I've been playing guitar a little over four years. when I was living on my own, as a waitress, I sometimes played for the owner, but that was pretty much my only performances." She looked at shade that shy smile still on her face. It seemed like she probably wouldn't be performing anytime soon, not in this place anyway. There was no way she would leave anyways, so if she had to perform it would be here, or maybe somewhere else if she survived the war... They were later talking about visiting the King. Momo smiled when Shade asked about whether or not they had gone to visit the King today or not. Axel shook her head just as Momo did. It was almost like they were making the exact same synchronized movements. Neither of them noticed that they were doing this. Momo spoke up though, unlike quiet Axel who hadn't said much so far. "Would you like to come with us? We go almost everyday, as long as we're not busy with missions." She was talking at an acceptable volume so far. She was chiming and smiling now, it seemed she was now used to Shade and was starting to come out of her shell a bit. She hadn't nearly gotten back to her old ways yet, but maybe soon she be back to her quirky self. Since coming here she hadn't been as much of a dork as she used to be. Axel looked at Shade. Inspecting the other male. He wasn't so sure he wanted to go with this guy, but it wasn't like he could really go against Momo's wishes. If she was making a friend and inviting him to come with him, it would make him seem like a jerk to tell the new guy to get lost. Although it was secretly what he wanted to do... It was probably just jealousy making him feel this way though. It was sort of just Momo and Axel's thing to go visit the King together. It really wasn't fair of him to be jealous like that, there wasn't anything between himself and Momo. He knew that, and wasn't planning on changing it. Momo smiled brightly when he said he did like vegetables. "Hurray!" She said quietly, softer then the volume she had been talking at earlier. It was sort of funny that she would lower the volume on something most people made obnoxiously loud. She blushed for just a second at her own quirky celebration at something so simple. Axel smirked at the question that Shade asked, it amused him. Momo looked down at her plate covered in vegetables and was embarrassed to answer. Axel responded for her already knowing that her reaction meant she was too embarrassed to answer. He didn't mind embarrassing her a little, it was kind of funny to watch her flounder around when she got all shy and embarrassed. "She isn't. She is just too scared of the lunch ladies to ask for some meat. They always put it out of her reach." He glanced at Momo who was now nodding and giggling shyly. "I'm a little to short. Ya'know?" She patted her own head to example her height. Sitting next to Axel anyone looked small, but she looked like a child next to him. She was much to curvy to be mistaken for a child though if you looked carefully. Momo looked at the clock on the wall and started eating a bit faster in her usual way. Axel had already pretty much finished his food. "What's your favorite firearm? I like the pistols. Twenty-two glock, forty caliber." Axel said, to Shade. Apparently he thought this conversation was heading into pinker waters, if ya'know what I mean. Music was great, but still to semi-old-fashioned people like Axel it didn't seem very manly to talk about music unless it was something like rock. Momo herself favored those smaller guns too. It want's exactly easy for her to carry around a huge rifle, especially since she was so short and petite. He was doing his part to keep the conversation going.

A little over four years? It was likely that she was well practiced then; how fun this could turn out to be. Perhaps they could jam together some time? On the other hand, he wasn't sure how well a combination of guitar and piano would sound, so he would rather not take his chances upon making something that could sound.. horrific. He was a little surprised to hear that she had been a waitress at some point in her life, and that she had done a couple of performances in front of the manager. He nodded slightly; that sounded like quite a bit of fun. Recalling his own performances, he had only done a couple. For the most part, they were all just small things in front of a person or two; the biggest performance Shade had probably done was in one of those corny school talent shows... Ah yes, those were the days when everything just seemed to make so much more sense..
Did they just shake their heads at the same time? How peculiar. Axel had been taking food from Momo's plate; she didn't seem to mind his teasing, and they acted in synchronization. Oh goodness, had Shade just walked in between a relationship without knowing it? Oops.. He really didn't wish to come between the both of them, yet when he heard Momo's invitation to go down to level one with them.. Well, he didn't want to be rude, so he would have to accept. "Sure, sounds fun." he continued. "..And I hope you don't mind, but I won't be able to join the both of you for the duration." He said, referring to the fact that he wouldn't be staying down in level one as long as they would. He didn't wish to intrude, but he did need to go visit the King anyways, so why not tag along, even if only for a few minutes?
Shade felt amused when he heard Momo's quiet celebration. He didn't really see what the big deal was; they were just vegetables.. Oh, wait; they weren't vegetables, they were a life style! ..Right? He wasn't even sure anymore, but he found it cute how happy she seemed for something so small as liking something. It wasn't as if he meant to embarrass her when she went silent, and Axel had to answer for her. Oh? How intriguing. The lunch ladies scared her, and yet, they always put the meat out of her reach because she was short? That wasn't very fair.. He nodded to indicate he understood that she was short, but not long afterwards he would speak up. "..Perhaps I should have a little..'chat' with them for you?" He asked, showing that he was definitely not afraid of them.. Shade would have no reason to fear them.. Besides, they all had a special bond, surely they would understand..
There was a sudden change in the subject when Axel brought up firearms. Which was his favorite? When he heard Axel's favorite, he had replied. "That's a good choice; that's actually one of my favorites as well." He continued. "I suppose you could call me old fashioned, but I actually prefer throwing knives." At a time and a place like this, Shade actually didn't have any throwing knives on him. It was a bit of a bummer, but, little did anyone know, he wasn't exactly unarmed either. He managed to keep a switch blade with him for quite some time, but, that would just be his little secret for when he really needed it...
"If it was a firearm, I'd say my favorite would have to be the Springfield XD 5" Pistol." He explained, recalling that that particular gun had great accuracy, and it was very light weight, so it was easy to get around. "Is there any particular reason as to why you asked?" Shade was just being his curious self; he had noted that the subject seemed to jump; was there a reason, or was Axel just a curious person as well?
