Benjamin is a fairly average boy with only a few singularities. He's of average height, measuring to about 5'10" and weighing at 147 lbs. He has very light brown hair that goes past his ears and even lighter brown eyes. He has a slim body yet fairly broad soldiers and only average-sized muscles to boast of.
Benjamin does, however, have a few outstanding points. For example, he will often dye his hair for the simple reason of refreshing change. Often times, he will wear colored contacts to make his eyes match his hair. This feature, and his quiet personality, gives off a sort of cooler-than-you or stoic aura when in actuality, he's a gentle boy.

Overall Personality »»
Despite his appearances, Ben is a very gentle and calm person. He's submissive, especially toward those who are older than him. His optimism makes him a popular person, but his pushover-ness tends to reel in the wrong kind of crowd. At school, he is not a perfect A student, but he works hard. At home, he tries to be as much of a help as possible. With his group of friends, he is a vital peacekeeper as well as their personal gofer.
Benjamin's biggest personality problem is his inability to say 'no'. Don't get him wrong. He knows the difference between 'Take out the trash' and 'Take out a person', but lie or reword a request, and he'll be your own lapdog. He is an honest person that believes in the good of everyone to a fault. Also, he tends to panic in situations he isn't familiar with. Ben isn't necessarily shy, but he is timid around strangers, although not quite to the point of suspicion.
Benjamin has many more positive traits than negative ones. For one thing, he's an incredibly caring and selfless person. No matter what the case, his intentions are always for the welfare of another. He has a high tolerance to annoying or just plain obnoxious people. He gets aggravated like any other person, but he has enough self-control to not explode on a person. With certain things, Benjamin can be extremely content, but with others, he is driving to make his mark in life. With this drive, he has determination, perseverance, and independence behind him.

History »»
The story of Chloe and Josh isn't very dramatic at all. Childhood friends from birth, they grew up in the same small town. Chloe, a sickly child with an artistic flair, and Josh, the hard-working boy with high aspirations, the two had no trouble finding their feelings for each other. Shortly after graduating highschool, they were married. Josh found all sorts of jobs in an effort to keep his frail wife from working. Although she didn't enjoy the feeling of being handicapped, she grudgingly became a housewife, holding down the fort as well as writing and drawing.
To say the least, Benjamin's birth was an accident. To no offense to him, Josh and Chloe had absolutely no intention of having a child. But then, well, the deed was done and there was no going back. As sickly as she was, there was an extremely slim chance of her surviving child birth. Abortion, too, was out of the question (Even before considering this, though, Chloe had strongly opposed abortion.)
So then there was absolutely no choice. In the last months of her life, Chloe took to her study, diligently working on her last piece. She shut out her husband, sure that he would only succeed in interrupting her. He, as much as he cared for her, could only do as she said. ( It didn't help that she often wore the pants in the family anyways.)
On the appointed day, it was much less dramatic than either of them thought. It was bittersweet, in just a word. Josh couldn't be happier that he was going to be a father, but was it really worth exchanging his beloved's life for it? Even to this day, he cannot find an answer within himself. Though he has deluded himself into thinking that destiny worked itself out for the better.
On October 25, Benjamin Nathan Marduk was born. Hours after, Chloe Marduk passed away due to post-pregnancy complications. After returning home from the hopsital, Josh found that the door to the his late wife's study was locked from the inside. Without so much as a doubt or hesitance, he knocked the door down, desperate to be in the last place in their house that Chloe had stayed an extended amount of time in. Inside he found the object his wife had poured so much of her soul into. It was a novel, written in the old fashioned way with a pencil on a ratty, old notebook
For the next hours upon hours, Josh read the product of Chloe's passion and time. Every now and then, he would break into tears. Not only because he missed his beloved, but because her writing was so powerful that it moved him to tears. In the twilight of night, he finally reached the ending. In the back he found a note. A note of Chloe's last words. In it, she requested of him to have her book published, even if it was the last thing he did and to bring up their son Ben with the morals taught in her book.
And that was exactly what Josh did. While handling his own dozen jobs, he raised Ben with the upmost love and support and managed to get his wife's book published. It wasn't a best-seller. But the money made from the novel was enough to let them live comfortably. Benjamin, although raised with the values in the book, did not actually read it until he was twelve.
Ben had always known the story of how his mom died, but reading the book put it into an entirely new perspective. He took each thing he learned to heart. Namely, that he should treat others with a respect, care, and servitude, resulting in his overly servant-like behavior. The book was based upon Chloe's life. The character, renamed Cecilia, was also a sickly woman, but not quite as responsible or governing as Josh had described his mother as. The story went from her teen years (where she met the love of her life, Jason, and went through the usual teenage hardships) to when she blossomed into a young woman (struggling with her health and talents) and finally into a women (when she has a child named Bryson. Like Chloe, Cecilia consequently dies.) In the end, Jason, overcome with grief, goes out drinking and crashes his car, resulting in his death. Bryson, left on his own, lives a stormy life until he kills himself.
Ben was shocked at how depressing it was. In truth, he was afraid if that was how he'd turn out if he wasn't a selfless person. That if he didn't live his life for the purpose of others, he would live a terrible and unhappy life and die a terrible and unhappy death.
At Benjamin's thirteenth birthday party (a good time after he had his epiphany), he recieved a cat which he lovingly named Mosh. From then on, he took it everywhere with him. He even began to believe it was as intelligent as him. He began talking to it and treating it like a person.
After Ben began highschool, bullies picked on him more often. Seriously, though, he had such a menacing look yet wouldn't hurt a fly and talked to his cat. Who wouldn't take advantage of that? He always kept a bright outlook, though and continues to live for the benefit of others. But will this disposition help him survive in a cut-throat world like this? Or will he crash and burn?
