Eirlys could barely hold her excitement. She was outside! She wore her typical school-like uniform and tennis shoes that the Academy provided for her.
This morning she had woken in her cell after an intense day of training to control her power and had expected to be put right back to training but instead they told her the day was hers! They warned her that she would be watched and she shouldn't plan on escaping, but Eirlys couldn't think of any place she could go or anyone she could ask for help.
Maybe that was why they let her outside? She figured that was probably it.
So far, she had seen so many new things that seemed familiar. She had been told that she had been old enough to remember the outside but she didn't. It felt right to be here rather than in that horrid cell she had been placed in since that fateful day that she had been brought to the Academy.
Eirlys had been out for a few hours now and had already traveled through the market. She had gotten a few odd looks for her hair color but for the most part the people were nice to her. She had never felt so warm before.
She wasn't sure how she had ended up in the park but she liked it. She looked around for the tall men that had been with her while she was in the market but they were out of eyesight. When they were sure she could handle not having them right next to her they had given her distance.
She was fascinated by the green grass that spread out before her, almost as if it called her to go frolicking through it. Eirlys ran a hand over the tips of the blades of the grass finding them comfortable to walk on bare foot. She took of her tennis shoes and stepped gingerly into the grass.
Her icy blue hair blew with the wind, almost glowing in the sunlight. She giggled as she felt the grass underneath her feet. Leaving her shoes behind, she ran over the grass, her blue eyes sparkling in wonder and amusement. Once her breath was gone she fell on the ground and stared into the blue sky, the sun shining down on her.
She raised one hand to protect her eyes from the rays, resting the back of her hand on her forehead. As she caught her breath she closed her eyes and enjoyed the feeling of the sun, making her usually cold body temperature comfortably warm.
