Species »» Ex (Vampire)
Sexuality »» Straight
Occupation »» Serving his vampire master

As with all vampires Rhys is stronger and faster than your average human. He's also got enhanced senses, like his sense of smell and his hearing. And, like other vampires, he has a chemical within his saliva that keeps his bites from being painful. Fortunately for humans, as an ex, he has no great desire to bite them, only his creator.
Appearance »»
At forty-one inches, the little boy is easy to spot in a crowd. But even without his short stature, Rhys tries to get people's attention, so the pale complected six year old is never easy to miss. He lacks pigment within his small body, so his hair is white and his eyes a very light blue. Normally he's got a beaten looking skateboard protruding from his backpack; his grandparents got it for him on his fifth birthday, hoping to cheer him up. He didn't touch it until he left two months later, but now it shows definite wear.
The attire adorning the forty-six pound Rhys are just as beaten looking- it's impossible not to tell they've been worn beyond their prime. He's only got two outfits to chose from; a pair of jeans and a long sleeved shirt with an annoying, stretched out turtle neck top, and a pair of flannel blue pajamas with faded white-ish green stars. Once, they used to glow; now, they're all cracked, practically ruined.
It's the language that we speak

Dislikes »»
»» Complete darkness and his parents old home
(his parents disappeared into the darkness in his mind)

Habits »»
»» Whenever he's emotional, be it nervous, scared, angry, sad, or any other 'negative' emotion, he'll sing quietly to himself to calm himself down.
»» Whenever he's in trouble, he'll get a playful look on his expression as if to ask, 'was it really that bad?'. Ever the charmer, he has a natural instinct toward how to react to familiar people to pacify them.
Phobias »»
»» Men in suits; face it, they're scary, they never smile
»» Being lifted off the ground; he can climb up high and not have a care in the world, but he's absolutely terrified when people lift him up, off the ground, if they're not protectively holding him close to themselves.
Overall Personality »»
Rhys was always affectionately known as a daredevil. He was curious about everything and he was determined enough to accomplish anything. With no lull to his energetic nature, he was notorious for stacking everything within reaching distance in order to obtain something or be somewhere. Usually it was somewhere high up and, subsequently, Rhys always seemed to be sporting some bruise or cut. But, typically known to be a fairly enthusiastic, happy child, he became downright angry when injured. That was the one time he couldn't stand listening to anyone talking. Whenever pain hit, he'd cover his ears and close his eyes, hoping to pretend nothing was happening, or, if he was scared someone would find him and interrupt that, he'd hide away until he stopped hurting.
With that mentality came a fierce streak of independence. Rhys wanted to make his parents proud by doing everything himself. His confidence was evident; he didn't just hope he could do it, he knew it, just like he knew he'd be fine if he wanted to climb up onto the fridge, or sit on the fence in the backyard. Rhys most negative traits, however, included a temper when someone started bossing him around or lecturing him not to do something and a generally selective motivation. While he was determined to do things he wanted, he found it hard to focus his mind on tasks he didn't want to do. After nearly a year on the street, the boy learned to adapt and find reasons to do things he didn't want to, but that general inclination is still there in the form of questioning for intent.

History »»
Rhys was used to the name R.J. growing up- everyone thought his initials were adorable, and after a while, they seemed to fit the daring toddler. However, whenever he was in trouble, it was always "Rhys Jay Lyle!" at the top of mom's voice, or softly scolding from dad. Rhys used to approach the upset parents with a playful smile whenever that happened. Typically, because he was very young and not capable of anything too destructive, they would see him with that smile and settle for scooping him into their arms. Rhys would cuddle close sweetly, all anger evaporating with the child's warm embrace. His parent would check him over for any visible injuries from his latest adventure, then he'd be set down to go play again.
Now that Rhys has reached the age of six, he misses that about his parents so he goes by Rhys to remind him. Rhys was just shy of his fifth birthday when his young parents went away. One morning they were there, the next he woke up in an empty house. At first the young boy thought this must be some surprise or something, so he took the chance to try to make his own breakfast. A few hours later grandpa showed up, saying he had to visit them for a little while. Rhys spent a miserable two months sulking around his grandparents' home. He used to run to the door every time he heard a noise, and he used to climb up into the closet in the room his grandparents kept insisting was his room to hide. Often he'd fall asleep up there, curled up with tears staining his cheeks.
After two months without his parents the five year old made a grand escape from his grandparents home. While grandpa was asleep on the couch and grandma was out with friends, he slipped out the window in the basement and ran as fast as he could. After only a short distance he had no idea where he was; he'd never explored around his grandparents home. It turned out they lived very close to the city, which was probably why his parents didn't like him wandering too far from the house. Even though mom never wanted him to go into the city, he knew he was still doing the right thing; he had to find her. The goal consumed him so completely that he'd do anything he needed to, including leading a band of street thieves composed of homeless children
It didn't take long for the five year old to develop a phobia of men in suits. Sadly, Rhys wasn't the only kid in the street, and, with a small lie to adults informing them that his mom wanted him home by a certain time, he managed to fly under the radar. To survive he and the other children resorted to stealing (just as they'd all seen on classic Disney movies, like Aladdin) It wasn't as hard as it sounded and, when necessity forced the habit, the young children actually devised an elaborate plan with several kids devoted to distracting while one actually stole the money. But the men in suits were always people he avoided because they never smiled. Had they ever caught him stealing, they'd probably end up having a gun. So, Rhys never steals from someone in a suit.
When Rhys gets older he plans on becoming a police officer or an important law enforcement official so he can find his mom and dad (even if he has to do it when he's older) and he's scared of being lifted up because it restricts his movements and leaves him uncertain about when, and if, pain will follow. Overall, Rhys is fairly content on the streets, so long as he has his buddies by his side.
